Just like the HTC One Google Play Edition, the recently released Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition ditches the manufacturer's UI in favor of a pure Google experience, i.e. AOSP, but is also optimized specifically for the device's hardware.One specific optimization for the GS4 GPE was an update to the Google Camera app, the same one seen in the leaked Jelly Bean 4.3, and you don't have to wait to get it. Step 1: Enable "Unknown Sources"Head to Settings -> Security -> Unknown Sources and make sure it's checked. Because we aren't acquiring this app from Google Play, this setting is necessary to install the app.

Step 2: Download New Camera & Gallery AppThe Camera and Gallery apps come as a packaged deal, and you can download them here directly onto your GS3.. Once downloaded, go ahead and install like any other app. After installation, you'll notice you now have two cameras and two galleries in your app drawer; one each for the original Samsung apps, and one for the new Google apps.

Step 3: Open the Camera & Select Photo SphereFire the camera up and you'll notice an icon on the lower right side. Tap that icon and you'll be presented with a few camera options. Select the icon on the left-most side, the one that looks like a globe. Other options include Panorama, Camcorder, and the regular camera. Now, simply align your "world" to the dots and piece together a Photo Sphere.

Step 4: Check Out Your Photo Spheres with the New GalleryOnce you've captured a few pictures, head to the new Google Gallery for a custom Photo Sphere experience. When you have the picture you want, tap the Photo Sphere button, and it'll transform the picture. You can scroll in all directions, all the up to 360° (if you took a fully circular picture). Toast notifications are a type of pop-up alert built into Android, letting us know when an app has performed a certain action. Whether it's Gmail saving a draft or Firefox opening a new tab, toasts are meant to be informational while not being totally intrusive.However, there are times when toast pop-ups are somewhat vague, i.e. error messages. There are occasions where a background app displays a toast in the foreground, which can lead to some confusion if we don't know where that alert is originating from.Luckily, there are a couple of useful Xposed modules that we can use to pinpoint exactly where toasts are coming from. We've previously shown you how to get KitKat-style toasts on your Jelly Bean Galaxy S4, now let's toss some more ingredients into the mix and add the app name or icon to your toast messages. Step 1: Make Sure You're ReadyIf you haven't already done so, either through previous softModder guides, or your own modding endeavors, you'll need to knock these prerequisites out of the way:Enable "Unknown Sources" Download and install Xposed Framework

Step 2: Choose How You Want Your ToastFrom the Xposed Installer's main menu, tap on Download to get to the repository of modules. You can choose between two different modules to spiff up those toast messages, brought to you by some crafty developers, gabcas and MohammadAG. Buttered Toast, by gabcas, keeps it clean and simple by adding just the name of the app to the top of the toast. For the more graphically inclined, MohammadAG's Burnt Toast adds the app's icon on the left side of the toast. Once you've made your decision, tap the Download button. You can download and use both, though you may find the alert somewhat cluttered and awkward.

Step 3: Install the Toast Module of Your ChoiceThe installer will pop up automatically once the download completes. All you have to do is tap the Install button in the lower-right corner, then Done when it finishes.

Step 4: Activate Your Toasty ModuleAfter installation, you'll get a notification from Xposed, prompting you to activate the module. Tap on it to head into Xposed's Modules page (also accessible from the Xposed Installer's main menu). Locate whichever module you chose, either Burnt Toast or ButteredToast, and check the box next to it. Reboot or soft reboot your GS4 for the module to go into effect.

Step 5: Enjoy Your Delicious, New-Look Toasts!When your phone boots up, keep an eye near the bottom of your phone. Usually one of the first toast notifications you get after booting is when you connect to your Wi-Fi network (if you're in range of one). To make this devise you have to buy a speaker system that connects to your door bell. When the door bell rings it triggers the speaker, which triggers an audio recording from the PC that is connected to the speaker. The audio recording is of a barking dog, So if a thief rings the door bell he will hear a dog barking and run off. If I were to lose access to the entire internet for the rest of my life, one of the websites I would miss the most would have to be Wikipedia. Wikipedia has ended countless arguments, informed me of how old and single some of my favorite actresses are, and helped me brush up on thousands of historical topics.It's also the sixth most popular website globally.So, what if there was a zombie apocalypse or the internet crashed, taking down Wikipedia forever? Or less dramatically, maybe you're doing some research for a last minute paper and your connection goes down. It's happened to me thousands of times.What could fix this issue? Having access to nearly all of Wikipedia's articles offline. There are a couple of ways you could do this, and I'll be showing you how to do it with ZIM files via Kiwix (Mac, Windows, Linux), by downloading XML files directly from Wikipedia, and reading XML files with WikiTaxi (Windows).
Method #1: KiwixKiwix is an offline reader that allows you to download the entire Wikipedia library (over 9 gigabytes) as seen in January 2012. Since that's a lot of content, there are no photos included. If you're looking for pictures too, you can get a smaller (and older) backup with files dating from 2010 and earlier, though, that's only 45,000 pages.

Downloading Kiwix for Offline Wikipedia ReadingTo install Kiwix, choose your operating system below.Mac OS X Windows 32 GNU / Linux Archlinux Sugar Debian NOTE: I chose Mac, but if you're using Windows, you can also skip the above download and go straight to downloading one of the portable pre-indexed ZIMs, which already includes the Wikipedia database of your choice and makes searching for articles easier right off the bat.Once it's downloaded, go ahead and drag Kiwix into your Applications folder and open it up. Unless you have Windows and downloaded one of the pre-indexed ZIMs, your Kiwix will be empty right now, and you'll automatically land on the help page in the app. So, now it's time to get some Wikipedia content on there.

Downloading the Appropriate ZIM FileAgain, if you have Windows and chose to install one of the portable pre-indexed ZIM files, you're good to go already. If not, you'll have to download the Wikipedia library you want. If you scroll down the help page in Kiwix, you can find the download links for the different libraries and languages that Wikipedia has to offer. Alternatively, you can download the ZIM files right from Kiwix's website.I chose the English Jan-2012 version without pics, which is a hefty 9.7 GBs. Be prepared for a long wait, because 9.7 GBs can take some time to download. Once the library of your choice is downloaded, you'll have to import it into Kiwix.

Importing and Indexing Your ZIM FileJust go to File -> Open file... and select the ZIM you just downloaded. It will then ask you if you want to index the ZIM file. Click on OK, but this will also take some time to process. If you have Windows and chose one of the pre-indexed downloads, consider yourself lucky, because it took my MacBook Pro pretty much a full day to index the file! So, again... be prepared to wait this process out, but don't skip it altogether, because you need to index in order to search the ZIM file.

Using Kiwix for Offline Wikipedia-Ing!After it's done, you can search just as you would on Wikipedia. You can choose to download the files directly from the Wikimedia server, or as a torrent if you prefer. They will be downloaded in a .zip file, though, so make sure you have a program that can extract them once you're finished.

Method #2: Downloading Straight from WikipediaLooking for a more up-to-date dump? You can get the latest version directly from Wikipedia. The suggested method would be to download one of the Wikipedia dumps via a torrent due to the massive file sizes. You can find all of the latest unofficial data dump torrent links here, which date from April of this year all the way back to 2006. Make sure the dump you are downloading is correct. It should end in pages-articles.xml.bz2. If you downloaded something else, you will have an extremely hard time tying to find a program that can open the file. Avoid any dump that ends with something other than pages-articles.xml.bz2. This time, I chose Feb-2013, which is over 9 GBs, and it actually took way longer than that to download, just like the Kiwix version did.

Converting the FilesYou can try and use the native archive utility on your computer, but I ran into some issues with the bz2 file. I used a program called iExpander and it worked perfectly on my Mac. On my Windows machine, I just used WinRaR.

Opening the XML FileNow, here is where things got a little dicey. I ran into some problems trying to open the XML files on my Mac. You can technically "open" the files by using Safari. Just right-click on the XML dump and chose Open With Safari. Since it's loading a nearly 10 GBs of data, it may take a while.Eventually you will see something that looks like this: This is the entire Wikipedia dump with all of its tags and an under-appreciation for spaces. Obviously this is nearly impossible to read, but it may suffice for those with tons of patience and really good eyesight.

Method #3: Reading XML Files with WikiTaxiFor you Mac users, Kiwix is your best bet for a stress-free download and browse process. If you're on Windows, you can use Wiki Taxi. Just download and extract the program, then open up the folder and click on WikiTaxi. You will then be taken to another window that helps explain (poorly) how WikiTaxi will work. You can go ahead and read through or just skip down to the section that says Import the XML dump into a WikiTaxi database.

Importing XML into WikiTaxiIf you downloaded WikiTaxi before you grabbed a dump from Wikipedia, they do provide some of the most popular dumps directly in the program. If you want to try out the entire process, I would suggest downloading the Simple English Wiki, since it will only take a few minutes to download to your computer.After your selected dump is finished downloading (make sure to save it somewhere you can find it), you can go back to the WikiTaxi folder and select the WikiTaxi Importer. It will ask you to find the dump file and the database file for the Wikipedia file you have downloaded. Browse your computer and locate the dump you just saved to your computer. It should load into that top section. Now for database, the walkthrough does not tell you how to designate this. All you're really doing is selecting a place for WikiTaxi to place and later locate the Wikipedia information. Simply browse through your computer and find a place where you wish the database file to exist. I just chose my desktop. Make sure you name the file or you will not be able to save the location and import. I named mine Wiki Dump 2, but it should have been named Wiki Dump 8, because that's how many times it took for me to get it all right!We are almost there. The finished dump is now saved to my desktop and has a .taxi extension. You can now go back to the WikiTaxi Folder and run the item labeled WikiTaxi. It should be the exact same page that opened when you first downloaded the program.In the top right corner, you will see an option tab. Click on this and scroll down to Open .taxi Database. Select your saved database and voilà! You now have access to Wikipedia's library of articles. The links to other Wikipedia articles will work regardless of your internet connection, and the search function works great as well. Having offline access to Wikipedia is absolutely wonderful to have. It gives you access to thousands of articles and information that you can read anytime, and you never know when you might need it. Plus ladies love a brainy man.So bring on the zombies, I'll be fine.

And if they say no, well, you will just have to buy another device with your desired provider, causing you to buy two phones instead of just one. This has actually already been in effect since January 26!The carriers argue that giving customers the ability to unlock their phones is detrimental to their business, even though many international carriers have zero problems doing so.If you want to help stop this ridiculous law from actually getting enforced, you gotta act now and help make the Library of Congress rescind this decision. There is a White House White House petition already set up. Samsung's Galaxy S9 is a powerhouse, driven by the Snapdragon 845. Still, this SoC lags behind the A11 Bionic chip that's inside the iPhone X — meaning you'll need a few tricks in order to squeeze out some extra performance from your phone. Fortunately, there's an app made by Samsung that will help you do just that.Game Tuner is a Samsung-created app that helps performance across all Galaxy devices — including the Galaxy S9. Even though it's called Game Tuner, it can increase performance for any app installed on your phone, but it also has the ability to save battery life and generate heat — when used correctly.

Step 1: Download & Install Game TunerFirst, head to Google Play and search for "Game Tuner" or tap the link below. Hit "Install" to download and install the app, then open it up.Install Samsung's Game Tuner app for free from the Google Play Store

Step 2: Add Your Non-Game AppsBy default, your games will be added to Game Tuner, so you don't need to worry about adding those. To add your non-game apps, tap the tab that says "Non-Game Apps." Then, hit "Add/Remove Apps." A list of your third-party apps will appear before you, and you can tap any of them to add them to Game Tuner. When you've chosen a few apps, hit "Save" on the bottom.

Step 3: Choose a ModeYou can get really complicated with all types of modes, and there are no wrong answers here. Tap the "Modes" tab, and they'll all be listed in front of you. Game Tuner largely works by changing the screen resolution on a per-app basis, so your processor doesn't need to work as hard when rendering images."Maximum quality" won't change a thing. "Balanced quality" drops your screen resolution a bit to boost performance, and "Balanced power saving" drops it even more. I don't personally recommend "Maximum power saving," as it also decreases your frame-rate to 30 FPS (frames per second), which will appear stuttery and jarring. I actually really like the idea of the "Smart" settings, which will change the settings based on your battery life. Tap the mode you want, then hit "Save." Now you should be able to eek out that extra bit of performance on your Galaxy S9. You'll even be able to maintain that same level of performance when your battery starts to die with the "Smart" mode, and you don't even need to worry about keeping tabs on your apps. Next, back out to the app's main screen to configure a few more settings. There are options to choose which side of the screen the trigger bubble shows on, themes for the sidebar, and size of the trigger area.

Step 4: Launch Multi-Window ModeNow that you've got everything set up, let's go over some of the new features. The sidebar is accessible from anywhere by tapping the trigger button. You can move this button freely on the side of the screen you selected in the settings.Tap the trigger button, and a mini-drawer of apps appears—this is the sidebar. From here, you can drag an app onto the top or bottom half of your screen, and it will load on top of whatever app you were already using. This is really useful if you're reading or watching a video about something and you'd like to peek into a different app to learn more. Using Bold, Italics & Strikethrough (Android or iOS)For both Android and iOS devices, WhatsApp lets you format your messages with italics, bold, and strikethrough text just by typing special characters before and after the text in your message. Here's how it's done:Type an underscore ( _ ) on either side of a word or phrase to italicize it. Example: _word_. Type an asterisk ( * ) on either side of a word or phrase to make it bold. Example: *word*. Type a tilde ( ~ ) on either side of a word or phrase to cross out the text. Example: ~word~. WhatsApp for iOS doesn't display text formatting as you type, but messages show up in their formatted state when they're sent. Android users will get a live preview of the formatted text as they type, which makes it a little easier to see which format is most appropriate.

Using the Context Menu & MonospacingIf you're using an Android device, you have an extra option for formatting text in WhatsApp. If you type three grave accents ( ` ) on both sides of a word or phrase, the text will turn into a monospaced font that uses a fixed width for all of the characters. While you don't have this option on the iPhone, you can still format texts with this font using the method below.In addition to this extra manual formatting option, both Android and iOS users can also format text with a simple context menu. Just long-press on your target word, and either tap the three-dot button on the right side (Android) or "BIU" icon (iOS) from the menu that appears, and you'll be able to choose "Monospace," in addition to the other formats available.
